The Quick Response Code or better known as the QR Code is a quick and easy way to share various types of information by scanning a code on your device.
Android phones can get so many functions from this feature. Users can share WiFi passwords with others, or share Google Pay QR Codes with friends and family to transfer funds easily.
Google added the ability to scan QR codes via Google Lens from Android 8 onwards, so users no longer need a third-party app to read the code with an Android phone.
How to scan QR Code with Android phone camera
To scan a QR Code with an Android phone, you need to find and open Google Lens. If you have Android 8, 9, or 10, it can be found within Google Assistant. However, if you have Android 11, it will be located in the Google search bar on the home screen or in the Google app. Some phones also have it in the camera app, but not all of them.
1. Find the Google Lens logo in Google Assistant, or the small camera icon in the search bar of the home screen or Google app, and tap it.
2. If your Android phone’s camera has Google Lens in it, tap the Lens logo in the camera app.
3. Once Google Lens is open, point your camera at the QR code to read it.
As soon as you scan a QR Code with Google Lens on your Android phone, you will immediately see any link, text, or data that the code is supposed to display. The results appear in real-time and take absolutely no time to load, as long as you have a stable internet connection, of course.
Standalone Application
The only difficulty you may face while reading QR codes with your Android phone is finding the feature. Thankfully, Google has embedded Lens into many other apps to make work easier, especially on Android 11, which is housed in the main screen Google search widget. Or, you can download a standalone app to reduce the hassle of searching for the tiny Lens logo.
